Dr. Combs Honored with WALSAA Outstanding Advisor Award

The Wisconsin Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni Association has recognized a long-time professor in the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Dairy Science with its Outstanding Advisor award. Dr. David Combs received the honor for his
excellence in research, which mainly focuses on forage utilization by dairy cattle.
Combs was raised on a dairy farm in west central Minnesota and earned his Ph.D. in dairy science at UW-Madison. Since 1985, he has played an important role in the dairy science department in both research and instruction and serves as an advisor to 12 to
25 undergraduate students, while teaches several courses from introductory livestock production to the dairy science capstone.
Outside of the classroom, Combs has mentored and coached UW-Madison's Dairy Challenge Team since 2002.
Dr. Combs is a past recipient of the J.S. Donald Farm and Industry Short Course Teaching Award.
