United Cooperative Offering Students Scholarship Money
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 01/17/2017

The Beaver Dam-based United Cooperative is offering $1,000 scholarships to dozens of graduating high school seniors who are looking to use their education to pursue a career in either an agricultural or non-agricultural field.

The company says at least 10 of the scholarships will be awarded to students majoring in an agricultural field, with another 10 being awarded to students attending a short course or technical school. The remainder is available to all majors.

"This is the first year scholarships will be made available to students going into their second, third or fourth years of their education," said United Cooperative CEO David Cramer. "We've given more than $217,000 in scholarships the last eight years to high school seniors, but saw an opportunity in 2017 to include awards for students who are already enrolled at a college or technical school and are continuing their education."

Applicants will be judged on their leadership skills, scholastic achievement, extra curricular activities, motivation, and academic and personal goals. To be eligible, the student or the parent must be a patron member of United Cooperative; the student must attend an accredited college, university, or technical school; and the student must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.

The scholarships will be paid upon receipt of transcript showing completion of the first semester and proof of registration for the second semester.

The scholarship application deadline is March 3. For more information, call 920-887-1756.
