Wisconsin Students Earn National Dairy Shrine Scholarships

Many local students were chosen to receive scholarship money from the National Dairy Shine for the coming school year.

Trent Dado of Amery has been selected as the recipient of the $1,000 Kildee Undergraduate Studies Scholarship. He's attended the University of Minnesota and majored in Animal Science.

Earning $1,000 awards under the NDS Senior Student Recognition program are Laura Jensen of Comstock, a graduate of University of Minnesota with a degree in Animal Science; and Jordan Siemers, Elkhart Lake, who received an Animal Science degree from Cornell University.

A $1,500 DMI Milk & Dairy Products scholarship will be given to Brooke Roberts of Whitelaw, who is attending the U of M majoring in Agricultural Communications. Brooke Trustem, Evansville, will earn $1,000 from the program. She attends UW-Madison, majoring in Dairy Science.

Erica Helmer of Plymouth has been awarded the top Merton Sowerby Junior Merit Scholarship of $1,500. She is majoring in Dairy Science at the UW-River Falls.

Summer Henschel from Plymouth and Kalista Hodorff of Eden, both Dairy Science majors at UW-Madison; and Madeline Zutz, Valders, studying Animal Science at U of M, will earn $1,000 from the Maurice Core Scholarship fund.

And a Marshall McCullough Communication Scholarship for $2,000 will go to Ashley Hagenow of Poynette, who plans to use her scholarship as she continues her education at the University of Minnesota majoring in Agricultural Communications and Marketing with a minor in Animal Science.

All of the students will be recognized during the annual National Dairy Shrine Awards Banquet in Madison later this fall.
