Wood County Joins List of CWD Infected Wild Deer
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 01/21/2021

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has confirmed that a wild deer in Wood County has tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease.

The animal was harvested during the recent gun-deer season in the town of Port Edwards, within ten miles of Juneau and Adams Counties. As a result, baiting and feeding bans in all three counties have been renewed.

According to a press memo, the CWD-positive deer was an adult buck. The agency will continue surveillance near the positive detection location.

This is the first time the disease has been confirmed in Wood County.
