Dunn County Farmer Wins Free ROPS From NFMC
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 06/14/2018
One lucky farmer has been selected as the winner of a drawing for a free rollover protective structure this year. Peter Kilde retrofitted his Yanmar 1700 BD tractor after winning the prize.
"It's a great little tractor, and very well made," Kilde said. "But it's got a narrow wheelbase and there is a lot of topography on our farm. I thought the rollover hazard was too high."
Kilde won the ROPS through a drawing this past winter at GrassWorks Grazing Conference in Wisconsin Dells. The National Farm Medicine Center in Marshfield sponsored the ROPS program and giveaway.
Tractor overturns are the leading cause of farm-related deaths in the U.S. That's why it's important that each tractor have a ROPS, according to the NFMC.
The Wisconsin ROPS Rebate Program reimburses tractor owners up to 70 percent (maximum of $865) toward the total cost of purchasing, shipping and installing individual ROPS.
