Space Still Available for 'Water Matters' Farm Tours
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 06/18/2019

Community members, media, elected officials, educators and farmers are invited to join the 2019 Water Matters Tours next week. The events will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on June 25 in Fennimore and June 26 near Eau Claire.

The purpose of the gatherings is to show stakeholders the latest research and management practices from leading dairies, while helping them to better understand how the dairy industry preserves and protects their land and water.

The tours are made possible in partnership between Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin, University of Wisconsin-Discovery Farms, Wisconsin Counties Association, and Wisconsin Towns Association.

During the Fennimore trip, attendees will tour Banner Ridge Farms and Kieler Farms. The following day, participants will visit Farm On Dairy and Alfalawn Farm.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mark Borchardt, leading water quality researcher from the USDA Agricultural Research Service, will provide a water quality update presentation over lunch.

For more information about the tours or to register, go to: www.pdpw.org or contact PDPW at 800-947-7379.
