WPA Awards Scholarships to High School, College Students

The Wisconsin Pork Association has recognized the recipients of its college scholarship program for the 2021-22 academic year.

The $1,500 Whitmore Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Sarah Albers of Prairie du Sac, who plans to study animal science or veterinary medicine at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

The WPA's annual $500 scholarship winner was Abigail Helbach, a high school senior from Amherst, who plans to study animal science at Oklahoma State University. Receiving a $400 scholarship was Victorria Meylor, who is a senior at Darlington High School. She plans to study Agriculture Education at UW-Platteville.

Morgan Fitzsimmons from Mineral Point was the Gunderson Memorial Scholarship recipient of $1,000. She is currently enrolled at Iowa State University majoring in agriculture communications with a minor in animal science. Carson Lobdell, Darlington, will receive a $750 scholarship. She is a freshmen attending the Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Illinois, majoring in agriculture business.

And the Fredrich Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Kelsey Henderson of Kenosha and Melissa Konkel from Elkhorn, who were both awarded $1,000 scholarships. Henderson is a freshman at Iowa State University majoring in agriculture business, while Konkel is studying dairy science at UW-Madison. Jack DeWees of Franksville will receive a $750 scholarship. He plans to attend UW-Platteville for agriculture education and zoology.
