Rep. Kind Announces Plan to Revive Struggling Dairy Industry

Wisconsin Congressman Ron Kind says he has ideas on how to fix some of the problems that dairy farmers are facing as they seek relief from low milk prices. The La Crosse Democrat unveiled a plan on
Wednesday that would make programs Wisconsin dairy farmers use more effective and efficient, while encouraging the next generation of producers to survive in the industry.
"The past few years have been a trying time for many Wisconsin farmers and their families," Kind said. "With dairy prices falling to extreme lows and the cost of fuel and feed rising we need to take immediate
action to secure the future of Wisconsin dairy. My comprehensive plan looks to make our federal farm programs more efficient, open new markets for our farmers, expand research, encourage the next
generation of farmers, and pass comprehensive immigration reform."
His plan of action also includes expanding agriculture research, opening new markets for local dairy farmers, and establishing comprehensive immigration reform to address farm labor shortages.
Kind says he will attend dairy breakfasts around western and central Wisconsin, where he invites farmers to talk with him personally to discuss his proposed initiative.
