PDPW to Hold Milking Science Camps in Spanish
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 06/14/2013
A unique two-day program for Hispanic dairy farm workers and managers will be held in five locations throughout the summer. Organized by the Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin, the Milking Science Camps will be exclusively taught in Spanish by trainer Oscar Duarte, DVM.
Attendees will learn how to interact with dairy cattle safely and avoid residue during the first day of the program. Other safety lessons will also be covered. On day-two, Duarte will provide workers with the information and tools they need to optimize their skills in the milking parlor in order to maximize production and lessen incidences of mastitis.
The Milking Science Camps will be held at the following farms:
- June 26-27: Nehls Bros. Farms, Juneau
- July 27-18: Cycle Farms: Sturgeon Bay
- July 24-25: Ocooch Dairy: Hillsboro
- August 7-8: Rosenholm-Wolfe Dairy, Cochrane
- August 21-22: Darlington Ridge Farms, Darlington
The cost for the camps are $299 for PDPW members and $399 for non-members.
