Midwest Food Products Association Awards Scholarship Funds

The Midwest Food Processors Association has awarded $9,000 in scholarships to undergraduate students majoring in agriculture or food science at the Universities of Wisconsin-Madison, Platteville and River Falls.

Three students were chosen to receive $1,500 from the Carlton A. Friday Scholarship fund. They are Abigail Solum of Rice Lake, who is attending UW-River Falls; Erin Marchant from Darlington, Wisconsin and Madeline Bode of Cassville, both attending UW-Platteville.

Students chosen for $1,500 Kenneth G. Weckel scholarships include Elizabeth Martino of Janesville; Johnathan Sogin of St. Paul, Minnesota; Anna Lucht from Whitewater.

"The MWFPA recognizes the vital role played by agriculture and the food products industry in the Midwest economy," said MWFPA president Nick George. "These scholarships help students to continue their education and support the growth of these two major industries. We are proud to support these promising students who will play an important role in shaping the future of agriculture and food manufacturing."

Meanwhile, scholarship winner are also invited to attend the group's annual convention later this fall.
