CWD-Positive Deer Confirmed in Marinette County
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 06/19/2018

Another white-tailed deer from Wisconsin has tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease. The state's agriculture department says the latest case was reported in Marinette County, where a two-year-old doe on a 230-acre deer breeding farm died while fawning. She was tested for the fatal brain disease upon her death, which is protocol on many such operations.

State animal health officials say the farm has been quarantined. That means no animals are allowed to move in or out of the property until further notice.

The animal's history and trace movements will be investigated to determine whether other herds may have been exposed to the CWD-positive deer.
