Farm Real Estate Values Up in Wisconsin
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 06/21/2019
Urban sprawl and other factors meant that the total value of all land and buildings on Wisconsin farms rose to $70 billion during 2018, a one percent increase from the previous year.
According to the USDA, the property that remained in production last year
went down in worth as cropland fell to $4,740 per acre, down eight percent. But pasture values rose by three percent to $2,200 per acre.
Overall, farm real estate, including land and buildings, increased once percent to $4,900. Wisconsin was just under Michigan's $4,960 per acre, but higher than Minnesota's value of $4,850 in the Lake Region.
U.S. farm real estate value averaged $3,100 per acre for 2018, up two percent for the year. Pasture values also increased to $1,370 per acre, or three percent above 2017.
