Kewaunee Co. FTD Offering Scholarships, Grants
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 06/20/2018

Organizers of the 2017 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days held last summer in Kewaunee County have come up with some ways to share the remaining profits from the event. The show's executive committee announced it will distribute about $250,000 into the community through scholarships, grants and a legacy community project.

The scholarships will benefit students that are in their second half of their post-secondary school. One student alumni from the Algoma, Kewaunee, Luxemburg-Casco, Denmark, Southern Door and Mishicot school districts who are enrolled in either four or two-year colleges will be awarded $1,000. The group hopes to award these scholarships to approximately 70 students over the next 10 years.

Grants will be awarded to applicants based on Requests for Proposals designated by the committee. There's about $70,000 allocated for grants, with a maximum award of $5,000.

And the remaining funds will likely be used in partnership with Kewaunee County to complete a Legacy Community Project. Coordinators say the details are still being worked out and that final plans will be released soon.

Last fall, the Kewaunee County Farm Technology Days committee announced it has dispersed about $100,000 in profits from its food tents to the volunteer groups that operating those stands.
