Finalists Selected for WPA's Annual Taste of Elegance Contest

Eight chefs from throughout the state have been selected to compete in the 2019 Wisconsin Taste of Elegance contest, which will be held at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells on January 31. The Taste of Elegance features top chefs who will prepare an original pork recipe that has not been previously featured on their menu. The reception featuring these chefs will begin at 6:15 p.m.

This year's chefs include Michael Althen, Elite Catering, Baraboo; Mike Carmona Mejia, Red Circle Inn, Nashotah; Chef Michael Choronzy, The Duke & Dagger, Menomonie; Danny Davis, The University Club at UW-Madison, Madison; Kevin Dahlen, Machine Shed, Waukesha; Damon Holter, Croix Valley Foods, River Falls; Bill Marchewka, Maple Bluff Country Club, Madison; and Joe Schneider, Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse, Sun Prairie.

The Taste of Elegance was created to encourage pork menuing in a creative and non-traditional manner. The chef participants are competing for the title of Chef Par Excellence and cash prizes. Those in attendance at the reception will select their favorite entree, and a $250 People's Choice Award will be presented.
