Steinhauer to Receive WDPA Presidents Award
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 06/13/2008

A longtime leader in the dairy industry will be honored by the Wisconsin Dairy Products Association this summer. Gary Steinhauer has been selected to receive the 2008 WDPA Presidents Award.

Steinhauer spent 24 years as vice president of Madison Dairy. Under his leadership, the company grew to become one of the leading butter manufacturers in the United States. In 2000, Land O'Lakes acquired the operation, but Steinhauer continued working for the company until 2004. Three years ago, Gary and two of his brothers formed Steinhauer & Co.

Prior to joining Madison Dairy, he worked for two years for the Mead Corporation in New York City and two years for Champion International in Milwaukee.

Steinhauer served as president of WDPA in 1990. He also served a total of twelve years on the WDPA board of directors.

Throughout his career, Steinhauer was active with the American Butter Institute and served as its president. On a local level, Steinhauer was a past president of Goodwill Industries of Southern Wisconsin and the Nakoma Golf Club. He currently serves on the board of directors for United Way of Dane County Foundation, Lutheran Social Services Foundation, Goodwill Industries of Southern WI and Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra.

Steinhauer will be honored at a special awards dinner on July 13 at the 2008 Dairy Symposium.
