Mahlon Peterson, Former Eau Claire Co. Ag Agent, Passes

Funeral services will be held Friday for Mahlon Peterson, the long-time Agricultural Extension Agent for Eau Claire County. Peterson passed away last week after a yearlong battle with lung cancer at the age of 71.

A native of Iowa, Peterson spent much of his youth helping on the family farm in Delmar, IA. He receive his Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Education and a Master's Degree in Teaching from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 1969.

Mahlon taught vocational agriculture at high schools in Wisconsin and Iowa. In 1987, he became the Extension agent for Eau Claire County where he worked for 25 years before retiring in 2013.

A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 a.m. on January 19 at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel in Altoona. Friends may call the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again 1 hour prior to services on Friday.
