Federation Co-op Contributes to Cranberry Center Fund Drive
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 06/16/2008
The Federation Co-op's Cranberry Supply Division has contributed $250 to the Friends of the Wisconsin Cranberry Discovery Center Fund Drive. Based in Black River Falls, the 79-year-old cooperative
operates a facility in Warrens dedicated to serving area cranberry growers.
"The management and employees at Federation Co-op wanted to help support the Wisconsin Cranberry Discovery Center in its mission of educating the public about the cranberry industry," said Joel Hoag,
manager of the co-op's Cranberry Supply Division.
A native of Warrens, Hoag has worked with cranberry growers for 30 years in various capacities. Hoag and his wife, Elizabeth, also made a personal contribution of $100 to the 2008 Friends fund drive,
which has raised nearly $25,000 to date.
Housed in a historic cranberry warehouse in downtown Warrens, the Cranberry Discovery Center is dedicated to preserving the history of the state's cranberry growing heritage and educating the general
public about Wisconsin's top fruit crop.
The Discovery Center also has individual and family memberships of $25 and $50, respectively. Among the benefits of becoming a Friend of the Wisconsin Cranberry Discovery Center include free admission
all season, discounts on gift shop purchases and a quarterly newsletter.
