Gov. Evers: Details on Second Farm Grant Program Coming Soon
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 07/21/2021

Plans are still in the works to offer Wisconsin agriculture producers another COVID-relief grant program this year, but a few more logistics need to be worked out before the details can be released. That's what Gov. Tony Evers told reporters during Wisconsin Farm Technology Days in Eau Claire County on Tuesday.

"I anticipate having more information on this grant program in several weeks, but first we need a little more clarification from the feds on what the rules are for disbursing the funds," Evers told Wisconsin Ag Connection.

The governor told the media earlier this year that he's working on a grant sign-up similar to the Wisconsin Farm Support Program, which disbursed over $50 million to 18,000 applicants last summer.

At that time, he said he didn't expect the criteria of the next round of grants to be much different than the 2020 program. That's when farmers were given checks and direct deposits of $3,500 after the first sign-up period. When the deadline passed without using all of the available funding, a second round was offered with looser income restrictions.

Wisconsin has received $2.5 billion this year from the American Rescue Plan.
