State Apple Production Fell in 2016

Wisconsin apple production totaled 41 million pounds in 2016, down 20 percent from the previous year.
According to the USDA, state growers harvested an estimated 4,000 acres. That's unchanged from 2015.
Average yield per acre came in at 10,300 pounds, which was down 20 percent from the 2015 harvest.
The agency says apple prices per pound fell 2.6-cents to 55.2 in 2016.
