Farm Tech Days Expected to Generate Huge Economic Boost
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 06/26/2012

The upcoming Wisconsin Farm Technology Days in Outagamie County will likely bring about $1.8 million in economic activity to the Fox Cities region. According to the University of Wisconsin Extension, agriculture alone generates nearly $3 billion of the county's total business sales annually, with dairy farming being the largest agricultural industry. The county is also known for being the top sauerkraut producing county in the nation and number one for cabbage production.

"Agriculture is much more than dairy farming," said Vic Grimm, chairman of Outagamie County Wisconsin Farm Technology Days and an employee at Agropur, a firm that supplies cheese and dairy ingredients. "Agri-business affects cheese companies, dairies, food processors, the banks that lend money, trucking companies that move product and even construction companies that build everything from production facilities to free stall barns."

He says Farm Tech Days is designed to showcase innovation and future vision for farming, agri-business and related industries in the county. Grimm has been working with the executive committee organizing the event since the county was selected to host the show in April of 2009.

This year's exposition will be located just outside New London from July 17-19 and hotel rooms throughout the Fox Valley will be full as over 600 exhibitors and approximately 15,000 visitors a day will visit the region for the event.

Jeff Handshake and Mike Bruette, owners of Sugar Creek Farm and John P. Heideman of Heidman farms will join together to host the show. Both operations are located adjacent to each other in far northeast Outagamie County.

Outagamie County last hosted the state's largest farm show in 1981.
