Summer Hops Field Day Slated for July 23
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 06/29/2016

The Wisconsin-based Grow More Hops, LLC is planning a field day near Warrnes next month to educate growers on how to get started in the hops business or take their existing venture to the next level. The event will be held July 23 at the Legacy Hill Hop Supply/Tenacious Badger Hopyard, which will feature a tour of a 20-acre commercial operation.

The field day schedule includes a hands-on pest management seminar presented by Lee Jennings, hops consultant and owner of Grow More Hops. There will also be demonstrations of enhanced disease control products and application, fertilizer application and a sprayer designed for use in hops. The ticket price includes lunch.

As hops production continues to grow throughout the Midwest, Jennings says education and financing are the two most significant factors holding back growers interested in producing hops in order to keep up with the exploding growth of craft beer. His company provides growers with the tools needed to successfully grow and market hops to local craft brewers.
