John Deere Announces Major Contribution Toward WAEC
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 07/07/2016

Funding for the proposed Wisconsin Agricultural Education Center in Manitowoc County continues to go well, despite the tight farm economy. The developers of the state-of-the-art facility have received a $100,000 gift from John Deere toward the creation of the WAEC. In addition, Riesterer & Schnell, Inc. and Eis Implement, Inc., both John Deere dealers that serve eastern Wisconsin, are also supporting the project with their own monetary and voluntary contributions.

"The Wisconsin Agricultural Education Center will educate visitors about the industry's focus on conservation, sustainability and precision agriculture," said Deere Regional Sales Manager Darren Havens. "This focus aligns with Deere's longstanding promotion of productive and sustainable agriculture."

The WAEC will serve as an educational resource as more people want to understand the origins of their food and learn about the production process. The facility will also include a discovery center that features hands-on learning opportunities, technology used to feed people around the world and an opportunity to tour Grotegut Farm, a progressive third-generation dairy farm focused on sustainability and best farming practices.

The total cost of the center is about $11.6 million, of which more than 74-percent has already been pledged from supporters.
