Services Held for Woman Killed in Horse Mishap
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 07/10/2017
A funeral liturgy was held in Kimberly over the weekend for Laura Van Asten of Darboy, who passed away on June 30 from injuries sustained while riding a horse.
Laura, who was 20, just completed her junior year at Lawrence University pursuing a degree in trombone performance. As much as music was a part of her life, horses were her greatest passion. She volunteered at BEAMING as a therapeutic horse handler
and her love for horses extended to Mulberry Lane Farm, where she had a variety of responsibilities.
Van Asten attended Xavier High School in Appleton. Her family says she will be remembered for her positive attitude, her genuine smile, and the joy that she brought to those around her.
A statement from the Calumet County Sheriff's Department did not elaborate on how Van Asten sustained her injuries.
