WPA Sponsoring Bacon Appreciation Event
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 07/01/2011
The Wisconsin Pork Association will be hosting a Bacon Appreciation Night at the Madison Mallards stadium later this month. The event takes place July 14 prior to the team's baseball game that evening.
WPA members will be grilling and sampling pork loins to the crowd as they make their way into the stadium. The Pork Checkoff's We Care trailer will make an appearance, and pork producers will promote the new 145 degree cooking temperature, offer recipes and coupons for pork, and talk about their hog
State Pork Association Director Tammy Vaassen says the first 500 kids into the park that night will receive a piggy bank, and bacon will be featured in a number of menu items in the ball park.
Last year, the group offered 'pigsicles,' which are bacon-wrapped shrimp, roast BLTs, pork chops on a stick, and bacon chocolate sundaes.
