Pasture Walk Focuses on Late Winter Clover Seedings
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 07/12/2016
A pasture walk is scheduled for August 9 at the Balch Farm in Hollandale. The event, which will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., showcases the clover seeding in late winter by broadcast and no-till methods.
Following the tour, a discussion will focus on results of tests of soil and plant tissue, fertilizer effects on pasture, and low-stress animal handling.
Over 200 landowners and livestock producers in nine counties in Southwest Wisconsin are engaged to keep grasslands intact by decoupling land ownership and livestock management through contract grazing.
The pasture walk is co-sponsored by Southwest Badger RC&D, UW Extension, and Peak Forage Products, LLC. The event is free and open to the public, but RSVP is requested at 608-732-1202.
