'In Her Boots' Workshop Slated for Women Farmers
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 07/19/2019

An all-day workshop is being offered by the Midwest Organic and Sustainable Education Service next month to give women in production agriculture practical information, skill-building, resource connections and networking. The August 2 gathering will be held at Riemer Family Farm in Brodhead.

Attendees will learn how to raise livestock for meat, with advice from several women farmers on raising cattle, goats, sheep and poultry. The workshop includes a tour of the farm run by Jen and Bryce Riemer and their daughters.

Various resources will be available from MOSES, GCDC, Wisconsin Farmers Union, FairShare CSA Coalition, Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, REAP Food Group and various USDA agencies. The workshop will also cover a new opportunity for farmers to create additional income by selling baked goods made in home kitchens.

The workshop runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes lunch. The cost is $25, but space is limited. For more information, call 715-778-5775.
