Wisconsin Student Named National Guernsey Queen

A Grant County native will be serving as the National Guernsey Queen during the coming year. Kami Schuler of Platteville was crowned during the recently National Guernsey Convention in Portland, Oregon.

Schuler, who is a junior majoring in animal science at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, competed against four other finalists for the title. The competition included a speaking contest, interview, impromptu question and answer session and spending time with the judges.

As National Guernsey Queen, Schuler will be responsible for attending national shows and serving as a host at next year's national convention.

Last year, Schuler served as the princess for the Wisconsin Guernsey Breeders Association.

Kami is a 2010 graduate of Platteville High School. She earned an associate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Richland before transferring to UW-Platteville.
