WFBF Endorses Scieszinski for State Senate
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 07/17/2014

The political action arm of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation is already making endorsements in the 2014 primary selection season. Austin Scieszinski, a Democrat from Janesville, says the group is backing him for his run for state Senate.

"The Wisconsin Farm Bureau serves as the voice of farmers across the state, and I am grateful for their support for my candidacy," Scieszinski said. "If given the honor and privilege of serving as the next state senator from the 15th Senate District, I will be a steadfast advocate for farmers across our district."

The WFBF notes Scieszinski's enthusiasm and dedication to agricultural issues as reasons why he secured the endorsement. The Farm Bureau's Rob Richard says Austin 'brings an open mind and an energy level to the race that is refreshing.'

"We believe he has the genuine interests of farmers at heart and will be able to represent them with a strong voice in the state senate," Richard said. "The Wisconsin Farm Bureau urges our members in the 15th Senate District to vote for Austin Scieszinski in the Democratic primary on August 12."

Rock County farms contribute over $1.45 billion into the local economy. Agriculture accounts for more than 6,000 jobs in the area.

Scieszinski is a lifelong Janesville resident and has worked in the past as a legislative aide for Senator Tim Cullen in the Capitol. He has a degree in finance and accounting from UW-Madison, and is currently employed by his family's local real estate business.

The seat is currently held by Senator Cullen, who is retiring at the end of the year.
