More Potato Acreage Being Planted in 2011

There are a few more spuds being planted in Wisconsin farm fields this year.
The state's agriculture department announced that farmers expect to harvest 62,000 acres of potatoes from 63,000 planted acres this year.
In 2010, about 61,500 acres of potatoes were harvested, with an average yield of 395 hundredweight per acre.
Nationally, potato growers plan to harvest 1.07 million acres in 2011, up six percent from last year. The U.S. potato yield for 2010 was 395 cwt. with a total production of 397 million cwt.
