State FFA District Speaking Contests Begin in January

Local FFA students from around the state are putting their thoughts on paper, memorizing the organization's creed and brusing up on their parliamentary and debate skills. The Wisconsin FFA Center in Spencer says the annual District Speaking Contests have kicked off in January.
State FFA Director Cheryl Zimmerman says students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of speaking competitions from Creed Speaking, Prepared Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking, Discussion Meet and Job Interview to team events such as Parliamentary Procedure and Quiz Bowl.
"Individual members can only compete in two individual and one team event at the district level," Zimmerman says.
Meanwhile, the Discussion Meet topics are posted on the Wisconsin FFA website.
The winners of each of those district contests will advance to the sectional level, where the top students in that competition will quality for a chance to compete at the state convention next summer.
