WALSAA to Honor 40 Individuals Who Had Biggest Impact
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 07/23/2012

The Wisconsin Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni Association is celebrating its 40th anniversary in a special way. Earlier this year, the group opened nominations to honor the top 40 individuals who had most impacted the University of Wisconsin College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and its student body in the last four decades. And now that peers have submitted enough names, the organization will be recognizing them during WALSAA's Football Fire-Up event on September 15.

Program coordinators say these 40 honorees are examples of the many individuals inside and outside of the university who have made a difference and contributed in significant ways not only in the past but also toward shaping the future. From leading companies, shaping associations, impacting student organizations and having far-reaching careers, these individuals have a common commitment to agriculture and the life sciences and paving the way for the next generation.

The honorees include: Lou Armentano, La Verne Ausman, Roger Biddick (deceased), Dale Boness, Valerie Breunig, Dale Bruhn, Bill Bruins, Robert Bush, Susan Crane, Tom Crenshaw, Rick Daluge, David Dickson (deceased), Norval Dvorak, Dorothy Farrell, Steve Fronk, Corey Geiger, Bob Hagenow, Keith Hawks, Liz Henry, Daphne Holterman, Gail Janssen (deceased), Bruce Jones, Jack Kaltenberg, Pete Kappelman, Robert Kauffman, Alan Koepke, Shelly Mayer, Jill Makovec, Larry Meiller, Sam Miller, Larry Satter (deceased), Tom Schomish, Ronald Schuler, George Shook, Bernie Staller, Marjorie Stieve, Bill Tracy, Gale VandeBerg, Bob Williams and Thomas Wright.

The WALSAA Football Fire-Up event will kick off at 3:00 p.m. at the UW Foundation building, located just off campus on University Avenue in Madison. It will be followed by the Wisconsin versus Utah State football game at 7 p.m. in nearby Camp Randall Stadium. The event is open to all WALSAA members and agricultural enthusiasts.
