Day 3 of Wisconsin Farm Technology Days Cancelled!
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 07/17/2008

The Executive Committee of this year's Wisconsin Farm Technology Days in Brown County has announced that it is cancelling its third day of the event after heavy storms dumped more than two inches of rain on the show's site on Wednesday.

The final decision was made several hours after show officials closed down the grounds early yesterday because of the weather--which means FTD was only opened for about half of what it was scheduled to be. Upon Wednesday's evacuation around 1:00 p.m., marble-sized hail fell from the skies as cars were leaving the site.

"The Executive Committee requests that vendors and exhibitors be patient and allow the grounds to dry before attempting to remove their equipment and displays," says Deb Barlament, Publicity Chair. "There will be additional security present until the grounds reopen."

This is the first summer show in many years to have a cancellation. In September 2001, the show held in Rock County was called off on its second day because of bad weather. During the 1992 event in Eau Claire County--which was also held in the fall months--the show only opened for one day before inclement weather put a halt to the latter two days.
