Manitowoc, Barron Counties Top State 4-H Dairy Judging Contest

The Manitowoc County 4-H dairy judging team will represent Wisconsin at World Dairy Expo this fall after taking top honors at the state 4-H dairy judging contest last week. The event was held in conjunction with the State Ayrshire and Guernsey show in Black River Falls.

Team members of the winning group included Brooke Roberts, Vanessa Roberts, Jake Siemers and Jared Zutz. The Dodge County team was named runner-up, with St. Croix County placing third.

The top individual judges of the competition were Dawson Nickels, Dodge County; Rachel Coyne, Pierce County; Brooke Roberts, Manitowoc County; David Pintens, Barron County; Erica Helmer, Sheboygan County; and Matthew Kramer, Fond Du Lac County.

In the Junior competition, Barron County won first place overall. Team members were Zach Moret, Henry Huth, Justyne Frisle and Alleah Anderson. The Dunn County juniors placed second, with Sheboygan County taking third place.

Nearly 90 students competed at the contest.
