Corn Growers Free Offer for E85 Still Available
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 07/18/2008

Even though Wisconsin Farm Technology Days was called off early because of the weather, there's still one very special offer being made available from the Wisconsin Corn Growers Association. The organization is still giving away free, $20 gift cards to those who provide a receipt for E85 ethanol fuel.

As part of the group's farm show promotion, the first 85 people to send WCGA a receipt showing a purchase of eight gallons or more of E85 get $20 PDQ store gift cards. This fuel give-away is part of an on-going, statewide celebration commemorating Wisconsin's 100 stations that offer E85 fuel and recognizing the contributions ethanol makes to the state's air quality and economy. WCGA members distributed some 100 gift cards to various E85 outlets before the show was cancelled due to rain midday on Wednesday and several hundred cards at events around the state this summer.

Meanwhile, a new poll released by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research shows a majority of Americans overwhelmingly support ethanol. The research found that the pro-ethanol majority is big and broad - crossing party lines and capturing conservatives and environmentalists alike - and that voters view corn-based ethanol favorably, and not as problem contributing to the rising cost of food.

"With gasoline prices hovering around $4 per gallon, American consumers must realize that ethanol and the country's Renewable Fuels Standards are part of the solution for rising food and energy costs," says Randy Woodruff, president of the Wisconsin Corn Growers Association. "Home-grown biofuels are replacing imported oil and helping lower gas prices as much as 40 cents per gallon. In addition, several recent studies have shown that petroleum prices impact retail food costs three times more than farm prices do, yet big oil and food companies continue trying to blame farmers for the high cost of groceries."

In addition to that, Wisconsin's nine ethanol plants each inject millions of dollars into their local economies in wages and tax base, while also producing valued-added protein feeds are in high demand from dairy and livestock producers both here and abroad, relates Woodruff.

Receipts for E85 can be mailed to WCGA, W1360 Hwy 106, Palmyra, WI, 53156. For more information on Wisconsin Corn Growers Association visit the web site www.wicorn.org or call 262-495-2232.
