Sen. Petrowski Honored by Wisconsin Towns Association for IoH
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 07/28/2014

One of the co-authors of the recently enacted Implements of Husbandry law has been recognized by the Wisconsin Towns Association. Senator Jerry Petrowski was presented with a 2014 Friend of Wisconsin Towns Award by the group for his support of local government and advocacy on rural issues during the previous legislative session. Specifically, the WTA praised Petrowski's work to address local road aid funding, economic development tools for large towns and passage of the IoH legislation.

"Senator Jerry Petrowski has been named a 2014 Friend of Wisconsin Towns for his outstanding support of town government issues this past session," said WTA Director Rick Stadelman. "His leadership on the Town TIF bill was crucial to passing one of the Association's top priorities, and his work protecting town highways was especially important in the compromise on the Implements of Husbandry bill."

The Marathon Republican says as a town resident himself, he is well-aware of the challenges faced by local governments, especially those in central and northern Wisconsin.

"I have always made a point to ensure that towns are represented in the legislative process, as I believe it is absolutely crucial to the welfare of our state to preserve local control," Sen. Petrowski said.

Petrowski was presented the award last week at the annual Joint Eastern and Western Marathon County Towns and Villages Association meeting.
