Equity's 'Good Way to Grow' Nets $87,400 for 4-H & FFA
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 07/30/2014

A one-year program organized by the Equity Cooperative Livestock Sales Association that contributes 10-cents for every animal marketed through the company's auction centers for youth development projects has wrapped up with very impressive results. The co-op announced that its 'Good Way To Grow' program raised over $87,400 for the Wisconsin and Iowa 4-H and FFA Foundations.

Equity CEO Chuck Adami, a former board member of the Wisconsin FFA Foundation, said the initiative began July 1 of last year and finished earlier this month.

"We are at the end of this program and results are so encouraging," Adami said. "Our livestock numbers continued to grow which reflects our patrons' dedication over the last year. These results allow us to continue our financial support of these two great youth organizations that create a positive outcome for youth interested in agriculture."

The co-op says that the 10-cents isn't deducted from the producer's check, but rather is a donation from Equity itself.

The Baraboo-based Equity Co-op operates 12 auction markets and services producers in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and South Dakota.
