Farm-Paid Milk Price Averages $14.80 in June

Wisconsin farmers received an average price of $14.80 per hundredweight for their milk in June. According to the USDA's Agricultural Prices report, that was 10 cents higher than the May price, but $3.20 lower than year-ago levels.

The U.S. milk price for June was $14.80 per cwt, the same as Wisconsin's price and 30 cents higher than the May U.S. average price. Fourteen of the 23 major milk producing states had an increase in price from May to June, while five had no change in price, and four had a decrease in price.

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange 40-pound block cheese price closed at $1.73 per pound on July 29, while barrels were $1.77 per pound. The CME butter price was $2.13 per pound.

The Agricultural Marketing Service U.S. weekly 40-pound block cheese price averaged $1.62 per pound, and 500 pound barrels adjusted to 38 percent moisture averaged $1.74 per pound. The U.S. butter price was $2.30 per pound.
