Henry to be Honored with WALSAA Daluge Red Jacket
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 08/03/2018

The Wisconsin Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni Association will honor one of its supporters next month with its Daluge Red Jacket Award. Liz Henry of Dane will be recognized during the WALSAA Football Fire-Up on September 15 in Madison.

Henry attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and holds bachelor's degrees from the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences in meat and animal science and dairy science. In her final year at Madison, Henry received a scholarship to do international agricultural research in West Berlin, Germany. She returned and became a Farm and Industry Short Course house fellow while she finished her degree.

Liz served as the 39th Alice in Dairyland in 1986 and briefly held an appointment at the UW Foundation before she received the U.S. Holstein Association Robert Rumler MBA scholarship and returned to the UW-Madison School of Business to obtain an MBA. She served as associate director of the Renk Agribusiness Institute, which worked closely with UW-Madison.

The Henry family has also produced J. Henry & Sons Wisconsin Straight Bourbon since 2009. Since it came to market in 2015, it has been an award-winning, nationally and internationally acclaimed bourbon. They use grains developed at UW-Madison, follow sustainable practices, and their entire family is in the business working to create a legacy of Wisconsin production and to keep it growing.

The newer award honors Rick Daluge, who was WALSAA's executive director for many years and a founding member of the National Ag Alumni and Development Association. He also served as CALS Placement Director and CALS Assistant Dean before retiring in 2008.

A red jacket will be presented each year to someone who helped WALSAA through means of support.
