Annual Forest Stewardship Conference Slated for March 14
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 01/23/2015

University of Illinois Extension and Iowa State University Extension are hosting the 2015 Tri-State Forest Stewardship Conference on March 14 at the Sinsinawa Mound Center in Sinsinawa. This is the 21st year for the forestry conference, which annually draws over 500 woodland landowners and tree enthusiasts from Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin.

"This is one of the largest woodland owner conferences east of the Mississippi River," said Jay Hayek, Extension forester at U of I. "Our conference regularly fills to capacity so those interested in participating are encouraged to register early in order to receive the early bird registration discount that ends February 13 and secure a spot at the conference."

The forestry conference will feature over 25 presentations covering a wide range of forestry-and conservation-related topics, including oak regeneration; fire ecology and use; bat and wildlife management; deer management; waterbirds; forestry herbicides; timber sales; chainsaw safety; crop-tree management and pruning; tree identification; tree diseases; maple syrup; woodland wildflowers; bee keeping; and the American Tree Farm System.

Participants will also have the opportunity to interact with federal, state, and university forestry and natural resource specialists, as well as to visit with a wide variety of vendors and exhibitors.
