Kwik Trip Looks to Hire Former PDQ Workers
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 08/10/2017

As Kwik Trip makes its transition to take over the PDQ gas station locations it purchased last month, more than 300 PDQ workers will be laid off in the interim. However, the La Crosse-based convenience store chain hopes to hire many of those people back once those stores are remolded.

Kwik Trip recently notified the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development that 313 PDQ employees will be let go between October 9 through October 11.

"It is Kwik Trip's desire to hire any qualified PDQ coworker, both full-time and part-time," said Kwik Trip Spokesperson John McHugh. "Because each store will require more coworkers than are currently employed it will be necessary to hire new coworkers as well. we hope that many coworkers will choose to remain at their current location."

PDQ operates 34 convenience stores in southeastern Wisconsin. They had previously operated in the Twin Cities area, but has since sold off those properties.

The company also stated that PDQ workers will get credit for their length of service with the company to determine vacation benefits and Kwik Trip's retirement plan eligibility.
