Dado Selected as National FFA Officer Candidate
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 08/13/2018

Wisconsin has named its candidate to run for a national FFA officer position later this fall. Meikah Dado from the Amery FFA has been selected to run for the job, in which she will compete for one of six spots in the country to help run the National FFA Organization and lead youth members for a year.

Meikah grew up working on her family's dairy operation, Four Hands Holsteins in Amery, where she handles all of the feeding, recordkeeping and health responsibilities of the farm's calf program. Her Supervised Agricultural Experience program also included work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Veterinary School calf barn, where she served as a research assistant.

Prior to serving as the 2017-18 State FFA Reporter, Dado was as her chapter's vice president and participated in many of the FFA's speaking contests. She was a national qualifier for the FFA job interview contest and in parliamentary procedure.

"I am very excited to continue my FFA journey and run for this position," Dado told Wisconsin Ag Connection. "My goal, if selected, would be to reach the students in more urban areas and show them that there are many career opportunities in agriculture, even if they didn't grew up on a farm."

Dado is currently attending UW-Madison, where she's majoring in dairy science and life communications. Her career goal is to work for the U.S. Department of Agriculture or other government agencies on trade policy.

Wisconsin has had several national officers in the past, including Alicia Hodnik of Walworth and Jackie Mundt from Pittsville, who served in recent years.

Each state is allowed to send one national officer candidate to the convention.
