Thieding Hired to Lead WCGA Communication Efforts
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 08/19/2014

A long-time agriculture public relations figure has returned to the Badger State to serve as the communications director for the Wisconsin Corn Growers Association. Tom Thieding of Verona, who is known for his many years as spokesperson for the Wisconsin Farm Bureau and later serving as corporate communications manager at the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, will promote the organization's advocacy for Wisconsin corn producers.

The WCGA is a membership organization that represents the interest of state corn growers in the growing and managing of corn grown both for on-farm feeding and commercial sale. Thieding will help promote the group and its efforts in his new capacity.

Tom has more than 20 years of experience in agriculture public relations, marketing and policy. In addition to this responsibilities at Farm Bureau, he was also the director of marketing for Rural Mutual Insurance Company and earlier was the press secretary and legislative assistant for former Wisconsin Congressman Steve Gunderson. He served on the Wisconsin Agriculture and Education Workforce Development Council, Wisconsin State Fair Agriculture Committee, Wisconsin Cranberry Museum Board, Wisconsin 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees, Wisconsin Rural Leadership Program Board, and was a co-founder of the Wisconsin Agri-Security Resource Network.

He spent the past year working in Arizona helping to grow a recreational horse riding business.

Thieding replaces Nancy Kavazanjian of Beaver Dam, who wants to dedicate more time fulfilling her role on the United Soybean Board, where she serves on the Strategic Management Committee.
