WAEWDC Ag Workforce Council Re-Established
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/14/2020

An advisory group that aims to increase the hiring and retention of well-qualified employees in industries related to agriculture, food and natural resources is meeting once again. The Wisconsin Agriculture Education and Workforce Development Council held its first meeting in several years last week.

State Agriculture Secretary Randy Romanski says he is happy to see the organization come together once again.

"The group was originally set up to recognize the fact that agriculture is a big part of our economy and strives to promote the multiple education systems available around the state to help develop and train employees for agricultural and natural resources," he said.

First established in 2007, the WAEWDC consists of representatives from a wide variety of disciplines, including government, education, extension, agribusiness and related industries.

It is being run as a joint project by the Wisconsin Departments of Agriculture and Workforce Development.
