Past State FFA President Killed in Farm Mishap
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 08/20/2007

The most recently retired president of the Wisconsin FFA Association has been killed in a weekend farm accident. According to the Sauk County Sheriff's Department, Matt Anderson was driving an end loader onto a trailer at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning when it rolled off onto an embankment, partially ejecting and crushing him. The incident happened in the town of Troy.

State FFA Advisor Jeff Hicken says the accident is very unfortunate and said the Wisconsin FFA Association is shaken up to hear the news. Hicken was also Anderson's FFA advisor at Sauk Prairie High School.

Matt was elected to serve as the Wisconsin FFA State Sentinel in 2005. He became president of the state-wide organization a year later. He also served as the chairman of the National FFA Officer Nominating Committee during the 2006 National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Anderson was currently attending the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, where he was majoring in Agriculture Education.

Funeral arrangements are scheduled for Thursday.
