Herron Named Outreach Specialist for Discovery Farms

Wisconsin's Discovery Farm program has hired a new outreach specialist to assist with event planning, communications and content development. Callie Herron is a recent graduate of the Friedman School of Nutrition Science & Policy at Tufts University. She also recently worked as a research assistant for a project at Tufts, where she developed computer models to understand the biophysical capacity of local and regional food systems and the land requirements of human diets.

Prior to graduate school, Herron worked on federal agricultural policy in Washington, DC. She then joined Cherry Research Farm in Goldsboro, NC where she helped manage livestock and assisted with fruit and vegetable production.

Although she is a native of North Carolina, Callie is excited to be back in Wisconsin after spending last summer working for Organic Valley.
