Prices Mostly Lower on NASS Cheese Survey

Prices were mostly lower on the National Ag Statistics Service's Weekly Cheddar Cheese Survey on Friday. The price of 40 pound blocks for Minnesota-Wisconsin averaged $2.04, down five cents from last week's price, while 500 pound barrels were six cents lower at $1.99. The price of U.S. 40-pound blocks were down a penny at $1.96 for the week ending August 9. The barrels were at $1.89, six cents less than last week.

Butter prices were four lower as the price for 25 kilogram and 68 pound boxes meeting USDA Grade AA standards averaged $1.46 per pound for the week.

Nonfat Dry Milk prices were down fractionally for the week at $1.40 per pound for USDA Extra Grade standards.

And for 'other states,' blocks were up slightly at $1.95, and the barrels were at $1.97, which was down seven cents compared to the previous week.
