Successful Day for Farm Tech Opener
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 08/26/2015

A dry and cool day was just what the crowds were looking for as thousands flocked to Sun Prairie for the inaugural day of Wisconsin Farm Technology Days on Tuesday. It all kicked-off with opening ceremonies in the Family Living tent, where Dane County Executive Joe Parisi welcomed attendees to the show. Organizers say traffic flowed easily into the parking areas all morning long and visitors kept busy checking out display booths, watching field demonstrations and tasting the show's very own ice cream.

Tent City Coordinator Anna Maenner told Wisconsin Ag Connection that exhibitors were also pleased with the crowds.

"The exhibitors we spoke to were very happy with the turn out for the first day," Maenner said. "The weather was great and the enthusiasm was equally as high. We're expecting one of the best shows we've had in a long time."

Meanwhile, Wednesday promises to be another eventful day for attendees. Jerry Apps of the Wisconsin Historical Society will be in the Family Living Tent talking about farm stories from his childhood. Classic rock and roll group Midlife Crisis will also play there in the afternoon. In the Farm & Fleet Equine Center, visitors can participate in horse training clinics and watch an eight-hitch pony demonstration.

The local weather forecast for today is calling partly cloudy conditions with highs in the mid-70s.

Farm Technology Days runs from 9:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. today and 4:00 p.m. Thursday.
